Community Reconstruction of Social Service (CROSS) is a grassroots nonprofit organization based in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh, working to empower marginalized rural communities particularly Dalits, tribals, women, children, and small farmers through sustainable development initiatives. Founded over 30 years ago, CROSS has built deep trust and relationships across hundreds of villages. The organization focuses on livelihood development, women’s empowerment, child education, and environmental sustainability, all rooted in community-led approaches. From promoting climate-resilient farm forestry and biogas systems to organizing skill training for women and operating resource centers for children, CROSS combines traditional wisdom with innovative solutions to improve lives at the grassroots. Under the leadership of its second-generation team, CROSS continues to be a locally rooted, people-first organization, committed to social equity, climate justice, and inclusive growth.
