Grant Writing Volunteer

Support the scaling of a high-integrity climate and livelihoods initiative by strengthening grant acquisition and funder communications for our biochar programs. This role directly enables the organization to expand decentralized biochar production across smallholder farming landscapes, translating carbon value into predictable income for local workers while advancing verifiable carbon removal at scale. Key workstreams include: - Research and map funding opportunities aligned with climate mitigation, sustainable agriculture, rural livelihoods, and carbon removal, spanning foundations, multilaterals, and public funding sources. - Draft and refine grant proposals that clearly articulate our grassroots biochar operations alongside systems-level implementation, financing, and scaling strategies. - Support reporting and donor communications, ensuring clarity, internal consistency, and credibility as programs move from pilot to multi-year implementation.

- Submit a strong writing portfolio demonstrating clarity, structure, and analytical rigor (technical or expository writing preferred over creative writing). - Demonstrate genuine interest and baseline knowledge in agriculture, climate change, carbon removal, or related environmental systems. - Complete a short writing assessment, including a case study evaluating how AI tools are used to produce a high-quality, accurate, and well-structured written output. - Show ability to incorporate feedback, revise drafts efficiently, and improve precision rather than inflate language. - Work reliably and independently, meeting deadlines and maintaining quality without heavy editorial oversight.
