KHAKI has been in the forefront of taking the message of Mumbai’s rich history and heritage to the public at large since its founding. The Khaki Heritage Foundation (KHF) bolsters the mission with its objectives of heritage awareness, archiving and conservation. KHF brings out publications and audio-visuals on Mumbai’s history and heritage, organizes exhibitions and other events, and runs a weekly Online Talk series that has completed more than 275+ talks by eminent historians and researchers. It operates the Khaki Lab, a multipurpose cultural space in Fort, and has a collection of over 500 books on Mumbai in its library. It has contributed to the conservation of heritage milestones in Mumbai and works with government bodies, NGOs and the corporate sector for heritage preservation. KHAKI stands for Keeping Heritage Alive and Kicking in India.
